This park, declared wildlife refuge and eco-recreational parkland, owes its importance to its being source of the Medellín River, main waterway of the Aburrá Valley. Its almost 3650 acres are located south of the Municipal-ity of Caldas in the La Clara hamlet. At a mean elevation of 8800 feet, it is home to 16% of the biodiversity reported in the country, including endemic species. It is an ideal site to go bird watching and enjoy other wildlife including small mammals, reptiles, and amphibians. Vis-itors can awe at its beauty, prior reservation, escorted by expert guides.
