Being one of the city’s oldest squares, the San Ignacio Square has been central to Medellín’s historical life. The square is flanked by historical buildings such as the San Ignacio Building including its Paraninfo or Grand Hall, and the San Ignacio Church and Cloister. The Square, framed by its centuries-old ceiba (silk cotton) trees, is a center for business, cultural, and recreational activities.
