Spain Park and Library, so named to show the city’s appreciation to the country that contributed to its construction, was officially dedicated by the King and Queen of that Iberian country in March 2007. The library itself offers book collections, recreation areas, read-ing rooms, and free Internet access, among many other services. The site has become a cultural revival and gathering place for the inhabitants of this very populous area of Medellín. Like the La Ladera Park and Library, this eye-catching three-black-building complex was designed by architect Giancarlo Mazzanti. The three structures, together with the gondolas on their endless journey through the Metrocable station, stand out on the slope of the mountain amid the myriad houses that dot the hillside. The setting affords the visitor and resident alike an unparalleled view of the city below.
