Information of Interest
Oldest standing bridge over the Medellín Riv-er. The structure, built between 1878 and 1879 with bricks, mortar, gravel, and lime, is located close to downtown Medellín and very near Cerro Nutibara. In December it becomes the start of the Paseo del Río with its festive mood and Christmas lights. In its heyday, the bridge served as springboard for the develop-ment of the southwestern side of the city and the south of the Aburrá Valley. With its leg-ends and history –site of executions in the 19th century– the structure is now only used as a pedestrian walkway.
