According to information from the Colombian Association of Flower Exporters (Asocolflores), between January and November 2021, the shipment of flowers to countries such as the United States, Canada, Holland, England, Japan, Spain, Russia and Poland, increased by approximately 20%, generating an income for this sector of more than 1.5 billion dollars.

Roses, carnations, pompons, alstroemerias, hydrangeas, chrysanthemums and lilies from around Medellin and the Bogotá Savannah are the stars among Colombian flowers abroad.

Liqueurs

Another of Medellín’s world-famous products are liqueurs. In fact, according to Procolombia, liquor exports in Colombia rose more than 30% between January and May 2022 and of the US$10 million sold in the first four months of the year, US$5.3 million came from Antioquian companies.

Medellin’s fashion is famous in the world and its protagonists are swimwear from prestigious brands such as Agua Bendita and Maaji, both brands from Medellin; as well as girdles, control garments and post-surgical garments, underwear, raw and prepared leathers, jeans and women’s underwear.

In fact, in 2021 alone, Colombian fashion exports grew by close to 50%, registering more than US$900 million between January and November of that year, with the United States, Ecuador, Mexico, Canada and the Dominican Republic being the main consumers of our country’s trends.

With respect to our region, according to the Minister of Trade, Industry and Tourism, María Ximena Lombana, small and medium-sized companies producing underwear and girdles are leaders in the North American market.
