Although it is not as large as other shopping malls on the list, Oviedo Shopping Center offers many natural spaces and green areas that provide a very pleasant experience for spending time, whether you go shopping, eating, or working in their coworking spaces.

Shopping malls in downtown Medellín
Sandiego

Credits: Centro Comercial Sandiego
This is the most traditional and historical shopping mall in Medellín and Colombia, as it was the first in our country. Founded in 1972, it is now over 50 years old. It was named due to its resemblance to shopping malls from the same era in San Diego, California.
You can get there by Metro. The closest station to San Diego is Exposiciones. After getting off, walk 4 blocks east along Avenida 33, until you pass the large roundabout. You’ll see the shopping mall on your right.
However, currently, the relevance of this place is only historical. Instead, I recommend visiting other malls in the area, like Premium Plaza.
Address: Calle 33 # 42 B – 06
Notable stores: Falabella, Adidas, Agaval, Alkomprar, Arturo Calle, Bon Bonite, Chamela, Croomatic.
Notable restaurants: Wajaca, Crepes & Waffles, Sr. Wok, Il Forno, Montolivo.

Premium Plaza

Inaugurated in 2007 in La Candelaria, almost reaching the El Poblado sector, this shopping mall was once the largest in Medellín. Now it celebrates 16 years and remains a reference point for its large number of stores and entertainment options for the whole family.
According to the medellin.travel website, Premium Plaza has 4 floors, a total of 421 stores, 3 food courts, 6 cinema halls, and 269 brands, including Ela, Stradivarius, Studio F, Bershka, Koaj, Totto, Miniso, and many more.
Here you can enjoy a variety of entertaining activities such as watching movies, playing sports on synthetic soccer fields, or visiting the Africa-themed amusement park; all in one place. And to get there, you have the convenience of traveling by Metro.
The nearest Metro station to Premium Plaza is Industriales. After getting off at the terminal, head to the right towards the east. You will see the Punto Clave shopping center, and if you continue walking along Calle 29 for three more blocks, you will reach your destination in 10 minutes.

The largest shopping mall in the Laureles sector is Unicentro, and it is located in a very accessible location, right next to the Pontifical Bolivarian University, very close to Av. 33 (where several bus routes such as Circular Coonatra pass).
The closest Metro stations to the mall are Exposiciones, Estadio, and Suramericana, although from any of these 3 it is necessary to take a vehicle as the walking distance to the shopping center is considerable.

This shopping mall is located in the Belén sector. If you are wondering how to get to Los Molinos, the answer is that you can do it by Metro, taking the Metroplús line from Industriales to the University of Medellín. The nearest station to the mall is La Palma.
You can also easily go by vehicle via Av. 80 or Av. 30, depending on the part of the city from where you start. In general, it is a straightforward place, designed for the middle class of the area, with a variety of quite accessible stores and many entertainment options.
Los Molinos stands out for having a wide variety of offerings, including several cinema halls, games, and fair-style attractions, bouncy castles, mini car racetrack, and a picnic area.

Arkadia

This shopping mall is very popular among the inhabitants of the western part of the city, as it was inaugurated recently and brought to the area very well-known brands like H&M, as well as fun and stylish spaces to spend an unforgettable time.
The project was built by Cimento, a company created by Amarilo from Colombia and Spectrum from Guatemala. It has 5 levels and around 160 stores. It is located between Carrera 70 and Av. 80, two main roads in the city, so it will be easy for you to find this place.
If you travel by Metro, you can go to the Aguacatala station on Line A and then take an integrated Metro bus that goes along Av. 80 to the north. You can also go by Metroplús from Industriales to La Palma, where you need to take another vehicle that goes along Av. 80 to your destination.

Shopping Malls in Buenos Aires
La Central

This is the only major shopping mall in the Buenos Aires sector, in the central-eastern part of the city. Specifically, it is located at the beginning of the Las Mellizas hill, which has been gaining a lot of life in recent years thanks to the tram and its boulevard full of businesses, bars, and restaurants.
Getting to La Central is very easy. You can take the Metro to the San Antonio station and there connect to the tram heading to the Miraflores station. You will find the shopping mall a few blocks up the hill.
There are around 140 brands, a large food court, 7 movie theaters from the Cinemas Procinal chain, and a terrace with an amusement park, among other attractions such as a monument to the old city tram and a very Instagrammable mural painted by a talented local graffiti artist.
Address: Calle 49B # 21 – 38
Notable stores: Agaval, Bata, Bosi, Brahma, Dollar City, Gef, Flamingo, Éxito, Mattelsa, Koaj.

Shopping Malls in Aranjuez
Aventura

I consider the Aranjuez commune to be the sector with the greatest tourist attractions in Medellín, and as such, it has experienced significant development over the past two decades. Therefore, this shopping mall is located in a very strategic area, in front of the University of Antioquia and Ruta N.
To get there, the closest Metro station is Hospital, which will leave you just a few blocks away from the mall. You can also get there by vehicle (including bus), as Aventura is at the intersection of two well-known streets in the city: Barranquilla and Carabobo.
This place does not have a very abundant supply of stores, but it is a reference for people who live, work, or study nearby.
Address: Cra. 52 # 65-91
Notable stores: Vélez, Rifle, Mattelsa, Karibik, Éxito, Croydon, Ela, Color Blue, Alkomprar.
Notable restaurants: Fogón y Leña, Frisby, McDonald’s, Tostao, Subway, Sr. Wok.
Cinema and entertainment: Cinemas Procinal, Happy City.
Hours: Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. / Sundays and holidays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Bosque Plaza

More than the shopping mall itself, what I love about this place is its privileged location, which connects directly with the Universidad Metro station and is in the middle of great tourist attractions like the Parque de los Deseos, the Municipal Planetarium, and the Botanical Garden, among others.
This makes Bosque Plaza Shopping Center a perfect stop to rest and grab a bite to eat, as it has a fairly robust food court, which includes nightlife options like the Sports Bar 360° on the building’s terrace, from where there is a beautiful view of the entire area.
Address: Calle 73 # 51D-71
Notable restaurants: Pollos Mario, Presto, Pizzotas, Thomassa, La Martina, Los Verdes.

Shopping Malls in the Metropolitan Area

If we talked about all the shopping malls in the metropolitan area, this article would be endless. But there are definitely 3 that, due to their importance, also have a place on our list.
The first is Viva Envigado (photo above), which was crowned as the largest shopping mall in Antioquia (even surpassing Santa Fe). Viva Envigado is a gigantic citadel where there is literally everything, making it the mall of the moment in the south of the valley.
The last two, both in the municipality of Bello north of Medellín, are the already traditional Puerta del Norte (very close to the Niquía Metro station) and the most recent proposal of Parque Fabricato, almost as large and abundant as Viva.

Bosque Plaza: The nearest station to this place is Universidad, going through Line A.
San Diego: It is a 10-minute walk from the Exposiciones station on Line A of the Metro.

Mayorca: This shopping mall is at the foot of the Itagüí station.
How many shopping malls are there in Medellín?
According to Mall & Retail magazine, at the end of 2021 Medellín and its metropolitan area had a total of 36 shopping malls, making this city the second largest market of its kind nationwide.
Medellín has always been at the forefront in this matter. The San Diego Shopping Mall is the oldest in Colombia and was inaugurated in the capital of Antioquia in 1972. This innovative and entrepreneurial drive is what keeps this city as the second most important in the country.
The people of Antioquia are known as great negotiators, which is why the capital of Antioquia is extremely active commercially, hence the countless stores, passages, market squares, malls, supermarkets, and other types of commercial establishments.
Here we only talk about the best-known malls in Medellín and some from the metropolitan area (also made up of Caldas, La Estrella, Sabaneta, Envigado, Itagüí, Bello, Copacabana, Girardota, and Barbosa). Get to know them and tell us about your experience!
