The 5 Best Coworking Spaces in Medellín

Medellín stands out as one of the most attractive cities in Latin America for digital nomads. There are multiple reasons for this, but its excellent internet connectivity and flourishing ecosystem of coworking spaces significantly contribute to it.

I’m a resident of Medellín and have been working remotely for 4 years. Most of the time, I work from my home, which for me, is the best coworking space I could have. However, from time to time, I like to go out to clear my mind and connect with other people.

Thanks to this, I’ve had the opportunity to explore many of the coworking spaces in the city. That’s why I decided to create a list of the ones I consider the best.

What will you find in this post?

  • Ruta Naranja
  • WeWork Parque El Poblado
  • Cowork-Latam El Poblado
  • Tinkko Milla de Oro

Ruta Naranja

This coworking space is part of RutaN, one of the key institutions promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in Medellín. Ruta Naranja is located in the Perpetuo Socorro sector, an industrial area designated as a creative district in the city. The magic of this place lies in its surroundings, filled with workshops and production plants. In fact, the coworking space itself was built in the area of a former industrial plant.

This type of coworking is ideal for small entrepreneurs and freelancers who are looking not only for a place to work but also for an ecosystem where they can make good connections and learn. Each week, there are events and talks that attract people from various fields of knowledge.

One aspect to consider, which I found to be a minor inconvenience, is the scarcity of parking spots around Ruta Naranja. Therefore, it is preferable to arrive by public transportation or taxi.

WeWork Parque El Poblado

Located on El Poblado Avenue, WeWork has a comprehensive office that maintains the high standards characteristic of this international chain. I had the opportunity to visit this coworking space for two days of filming for a company I worked for. The truth is, the spaces are very spacious and comfortable, as expected from WeWork.

From our list, this is probably the coworking space with the best location. First, because it is only a 10-minute walk from the Poblado Metro Station. Second, because it is in a very central point of the city, making it easy to travel both north and south. Finally, due to the variety of dining, entertainment, and hotel options available around it.

This office is just a few minutes’ walk from Parque El Poblado, Parque Lleras, and the Provenza area. Additionally, it has parking space available for an additional cost.

Cowork-Latam El Poblado

I have visited this coworking space several times and, although its location is not the most convenient, it has a positive aspect: it features well-equipped spaces with high office standards, such as ergonomic chairs, spacious tables, and numerous electrical outlets. Additionally, the internet is fast and it has pleasant common areas to share with colleagues or clients, such as a terrace with views of the entire city.

Most of the times I’ve been to this coworking space has been for meetings or small events with clients and colleagues, taking advantage of their meeting rooms, rooftop, and even a small auditorium with a capacity for about 25 people on the first floor.

On the other hand, this may not be the best coworking space to choose for regular visits. Firstly, because its location is isolated from most parts of the city, and secondly, because there are no commercial establishments around.

If these two points are not important to you, it could be a very good option, with a standard similar to WeWork but at a lower price.

Tinkko Milla de Oro

The Golden Mile in El Poblado is known for housing most of the offices of major multinationals, shopping centers, and international hotel chains in Medellín. Therefore, from the name of this coworking space, you can be sure that you will be in one of the most exclusive areas of the city.

I have worked at Tinkko a few times, and I find it a more formal space than other options on this list. If your company typically receives more traditional clients or you feel more comfortable in formal environments, this might be the best option.

I have noticed that several large companies have established Tinkko as their office space.

The advantages of this alternative include a quiet and peaceful space, good chairs, well-equipped meeting rooms, and good internet. However, you might miss the more open and fluid collaborative spaces that other options offer. The choice depends on your needs and preferences.

WeWork Las Palmas

To conclude, we include WeWork again in our list, with a location that is probably the coolest coworking space I have been to in Medellín. The reasons are simple:

First, because there is a high concentration of startups here, making it a very vibrant space. Second, because it has very spacious areas that facilitate collaboration: terrace, bar, café, and many open rooms. And third, because it is surrounded by a natural environment with unique views of the city.

A downside could be its location, as it is in the Las Palmas area, which not only is far from much of the city, but also situated on a road that tends to be congested during peak hours.
