For those who want to experience a more local side of Medellín and enjoy the city like a true paisa, Laureles is the perfect area.

This middle-class neighborhood houses the best of two worlds: on one hand, a local atmosphere full of traditional houses, nature, tranquility, and small businesses.

On the other hand, a cosmopolitan and vibrant vibe thanks to the gastronomic and entertainment offerings that have emerged in recent years.

Laureles was one of the neighborhoods chosen by the wealthiest families in the city from the early 1940s. It was an unexplored urban area where imposing houses were quickly built. Many of these homes have now become restaurants, bars, and hotels.

Unlike areas like El Poblado, Laureles is a sector more frequented by locals. And although the hotel and commercial offerings aren’t comparable in quantity to El Poblado, in quality we can find equally good places, and even with better prices.

Living by Armoniko is located in the Second Park of Laureles, a gastronomic epicenter of the city where you can enjoy the best restaurants and gastro-bars while experiencing Medellín like a local.

Beyond its location, we love its spacious rooms, modern decoration, and infrastructure. The rooms are fully equipped (kitchenette, sofas, balconies, smart TV, and WiFi), and all room access and reservation control use cutting-edge technology.

The rooms are perfectly soundproofed, which is a big advantage considering you’re staying in such a busy area.

2. Laureles Factory Lofts

Factory Lofts is a tourist apartment building located in a very strategic sector. It’s just a 13-minute walk from Avenida Jardín (where the best restaurants in Laureles are) and only 5 minutes from the liveliest clubs and bars on the 70.

Besides the very modern decoration and spacious rooms, the big advantage is that it’s close to everything without necessarily being in the middle of the nightlife chaos.

While the price may seem high for the area, it’s what you pay for extra glamour, comfort, and rest. Note that as tourist apartments, breakfast isn’t included, but you can cook in your room using nearby supermarkets.

3. Hotel Beminimal

One of the newest hotels in Laureles, with extra spacious rooms, well-equipped, and beautiful views of Medellín’s mountains. It offers apartments with kitchens so you can prepare your own meals, plus a small co-working space.

Beminimal is just steps from Parques del Río, which I consider the most beautiful and pleasant park in Medellín. It’s also very close to Pueblito Paisa. This area, called Conquistadores, is quite residential and quiet.

If you’re coming to the city for an event at Plaza Mayor, this can be an excellent accommodation option. Just note that while it’s in a very central location, the hotel is in a residential neighborhood, so you’ll need to use public transport (Plaza Mayor station is a 5-minute walk) or take a taxi/Uber to visit nightlife spots.

4. Terra BioHotel

Finding a hotel of this category with such comfortable and modern rooms, this price, and breakfast included is not easy in Medellín. That’s why we include it as one of the best hotels in Laureles for its quality-price ratio.

Also located in the Conquistadores area, you’ll be surrounded more by houses and apartments than by bars and restaurants. Nearby is the Unicentro shopping center with supermarkets, restaurants, and many stores. Plus, it’s a couple of blocks from Avenida 33, making car transport to any area of the city easy.

If I had to balance choosing a high-standard hotel while saving as much as possible, this would probably be my choice.

If the goal is to save money, this is the most economical option you’ll find near Laureles. Although it’s a hostel, you can book a private room with bathroom and breakfast for about $20 USD.

This co-living is located at Parque de La Floresta, a neighborhood adjacent to Laureles that is very safe, very traditional, and has excellent restaurant and supermarket options nearby.

One of Gastón’s advantages is its proximity to the Metro, allowing you to reach almost anywhere in Medellín. The downside might be the loss of some “privacy” due to the typical hostel atmosphere. However, this isn’t a complaint for most of its guests.

6. Inntu Hotel

In my opinion, Inntu has one of the best locations in Laureles, as it’s in the Second Park of Laureles where you can access the best restaurants in the area. It’s a hotel with a very high standard — perhaps why it’s the most expensive per night on our list.

If you value being steps away from the best gastronomic offerings, experiencing the best nightlife, spending the night with all comforts, and enjoying a rich and abundant breakfast the next day, this is probably the best choice.

It’s also the most popular hotel on our list with the highest number of reviews across different platforms.

7. Casa Laureles

If you say “I want the best location in Laureles at the best possible price“, this is the hotel to choose. Casa Laureles is just an 8-minute walk from Avenida Jardín and the same distance from Viva Shopping Center, one of the nicest and most complete in the area.

While it may be the hotel with the most “antique” appearance on our list, its facilities are very well-maintained and clean, and guests greatly value the good service. The advantage: for this price you get both a good location and a good breakfast.

8. Ayenda Loft 32

We close our list with a small hotel with loft-style rooms, recently remodeled, very nice, and in a different location in Laureles. This Ayenda hotel is located behind Avenida 33, one of the most commercial streets in Laureles.

What I like about its location is that it’s very close to a great offering of bars and restaurants, yet far enough from the noise and vehicle traffic. Although it may be the farthest from the main gastronomic and nightlife areas on our list, you’ll still be a 15-minute walk from Avenida Jardín and just 6 minutes by car from the 70.
