7 Best Hotels Near Medellín Stadium (Atanasio Girardot)
If you’re coming to Medellín for a sports event, want to watch a soccer game, or are attending a concert at the Estadio Atanasio Girardot, you’ll likely want to stay nearby for more comfort and convenience during your travels.
Medellín’s stadium is surrounded by very pleasant areas, many of which have a wide range of hotels.
On one side, there’s Calle 70, which concentrates a large portion of the city’s nightlife. Dozens of bars, nightclubs, restaurants, lots of lights, and plenty of energy characterize this area. If you’re into partying and want to accompany your stadium visit with more fun, it’s the perfect place.
Then you have the Suramericana area, a residential neighborhood very close to the stadium with some commercial offerings: supermarkets, pharmacies, stores, etc. If you’re looking for a quieter area, this is a great option. Just don’t expect much nightlife, as most businesses in the area only open during the day.
Finally, there’s the Obelisco area, near the western side of the stadium. This area has nightlife, commerce, and perhaps the best balance between residential atmosphere and commercial offerings. However, there aren’t many quality accommodations there.
Before getting into details, it’s important to know something: Medellín’s highest-quality hotel offerings aren’t in the stadium’s surroundings. If you’re a traveler with high standards, you might want to look in areas like Laureles or El Poblado.
But if proximity and saving on accommodation are your priorities, these can be very good options.

1. Hotel Vivre
Price per night: $250,000 COP ($50 USD)
Walking distance from stadium: 8 minutes
Rating: 4.4 (Based on 1,840 reviews)
If I had to choose one hotel to stay near the stadium, my first choice would be Hotel Vivre, and I have several reasons. First, its location is excellent — it’s right behind Calle 70 and San Juan Street.
This means you have all the area’s commerce nearby, but with some distance from the noise and movement of the main streets. The facilities are modern and comfortable enough for an executive-style hotel.
While the rooms aren’t the most spacious, they have all the essentials: safe, hairdryer, good shower, and storage space. This is the typical hotel where you can arrive, rest, and spend the rest of the day exploring the city.
2. Hotel San Pedro del Fuerte
Price per night: $260,000 COP ($55 USD)
Walking distance from stadium: 16 minutes
Rating: 4.4 (Based on 1,456 reviews)
If you want to stay in a residential area and experience how locals live, this is the best alternative near the stadium. San Pedro del Fuerte is located in La Floresta, one of the city’s most traditional middle-class neighborhoods.
Of our list, this is the farthest from the stadium, though still close enough to walk or take a 5-minute taxi. It’s worth considering, especially if you enjoy quiet environments. A big advantage is its proximity to the Floresta Metro station and being just a couple of blocks from Avenida 80 and Parque La Floresta, which have excellent and affordable gastronomic options.
3. Almaviva Casa Hotel
Price per night: $120,000 COP ($24 USD)
Walking distance from stadium: 7 minutes
Rating: 4.3 (Based on 246 reviews)
Almaviva is a small and cozy hotel in the Suramericana area near the Jumbo supermarket. While the facilities aren’t its strongest point, it has very good customer service, breakfast at a reasonable price, and parking.

The location is quite good — the Suramericana and Estadio Metro stations are equally close, as are the Jumbo, Makro, and HomeCenter supermarkets. And obviously, you’re very close to the stadium.
My only critique is that the area can feel very empty at night, so I don’t recommend walking around the surroundings, even for short distances.
4. Hotel Villa Park
Price per night: $180,000 COP ($36 USD)
Walking distance from stadium: 5 minutes
Rating: 4.3 (Based on 29 reviews)
If your goal is to save money without sacrificing basic comfort, Hotel Villa Park is an economical and safe choice. It’s part of the Ayenda hotel chain, which has several accommodations in the city.
It’s a house in the Obelisco area adapted as a hotel. While the facilities themselves aren’t modern, the beds and furniture are. Being an adaptation of an old house, the rooms are very spacious.
Note that the hotel currently doesn’t offer breakfast, but there are both restaurants and street food stalls nearby.
5. Hotel Merlott
Price per night: $220,000 COP ($45 USD)
Walking distance from stadium: 8 minutes
Rating: 4.3 (Based on 1,007 reviews)
Located right on Avenida 70, in front of San Juan Street. It has simple facilities with a 3-star standard, but in very good maintenance condition. If you like partying, you’re in the perfect spot on the 70, with a very safe and pleasant walk to the stadium.

Something to consider: if you’re a light sleeper or need high-quality rest, you might want to consider another hotel, as its proximity to some nightclubs could mean noise in the exterior rooms.
6. Hotel Med Estadio
Price per night: $150,000 COP ($30 USD)
Walking distance from stadium: 8 minutes
Rating: 4.2 (Based on 749 reviews)
This hotel likely offers the best quality/price ratio in the area. It’s a small building in the Suramericana neighborhood, a couple of blocks from the eastern side of Atanasio Girardot.
While the rooms with a single double bed can be a bit tight, if your stay is short and you don’t have much luggage, it’s a quite comfortable option at a price you’ll hardly find for this type of hotel in the area.
Another plus: it’s just one block from an Éxito supermarket, where you can easily do your shopping or even eat with very good quality and prices.
However, if you’re looking for nightlife and things to do, note that it’s a bit far from Calle 70 and the best restaurants in Laureles.
7. Tryp Medellin
Price per night: $280,000 COP
Walking distance from stadium: 8 minutes
Rating: 4.1 (Based on 3,001 reviews)
The Tryp hotel is located on Avenida Colombia, which directly connects to the stadium. Literally, just cross the street and you’ll reach the stadium. Perhaps for this reason and its large size, this is the most iconic and popular hotel in the area.
It has its highs and lows. The standout: rooms with a 4-star standard — the only one in the stadium and 70 area with this level. If you’re demanding in terms of space, storage, and furniture, you’ll appreciate it.
Some common areas (like the terrace) have spectacular views of the city. However, several travelers have complained about customer service, which can weigh heavily, especially during long stays.
If your #1 priority is being as close to the stadium as possible, I don’t think any other hotel beats Tryp. But you “sacrifice” some commercial offerings in the surroundings, as the best shops are on Calle 70, several minutes away.
